French company SNF Floerger has started construction of a 20,000-t/y acrylamide plant at Taixing, China using Mitsubishi Rayon technology for completion in February 2002. Output from the plant will be used in polyacrylamide plants currently under construction in Taixing. These include a new powder polyacrylamide plant with capacity of 10,000 t/y and a 5,000-t/y emulsion polyacrylamide. Applications of polyacrylamide include flocculants and coagulants in water treatment and superabsorbent polymers (SAP). SNF has 60,000-m.t./year of acrylamide capacity at Riceboro, GA, and another 60,000-m.t./year line at Andrezieux, France. SNF is also building two 10,000-m.t./year powder polyacrylamide lines at Andrezieux, as well as one with capacity of 10,000 t/y in Riceboro. In addition, SNF is constructing two 5,000-m.t./year emulsion polyacrylamide lines at Andrezieux, and two similar lines at Riceboro. It is also constructing a 5,000-t/y emulsion polyacrylamide line in Melbourne, Australia. |
